Since 2013, in accordance with the mandate of the Council of Ministers of the Mesoamerican Strategy for Environmental Sustainability (EMSA), the countries of the Mesoamerican region have begun a systematic and consensual process of assessing needs and cooperation capacities for the development of their national forest monitoring systems.
